Selecting a Contractor

Painting is a major investment, both in terms of time and money. The last thing you want to do is select a contractor that doesn’t have the right credentials. Instead, you should take some time upfront to make sure you find someone who will provide the kind of quality service that meets your needs and budget.

Here is a list of things to keep in mind when making your selection:

1. Look for reviews
Reviews from your family, friends and neighbors that have gone through a similar process before can make your life easier! It speaks volumes if they would use them again for a similar project in the future.

2. Proof of insurance
Accidents happen. You can sleep better at night knowing that you will be taken care of properly by asking for a proof of insurance.

3. Length of business experience
While length of business experience is not a perfect benchmark, it sure is nice knowing that the contractor has done a good enough job to be in business for as long as they have.

4. Quality matters!
Ask the contractor for before and after photos of recent work to get a feel for what they excel in and the type of final product that they can produce.

5. This is a job interview
Treat this like a job interview. You are welcoming this individual and their team into your life and your home/office and you need to feel comfortable with that decision at the end of the day.

Conclusion

All of these factors will play into the final price tag of a project. Sometimes it is better to delay the project in order to find the right contractor. Or parsing it into smaller sections to afford the safety and certainty that you are seeking.
